YOUR FIRST SESSION

Your first few moves.

Jump to controls ↓
  1. 01

    Find adjacent pairs

Two neighboring equal colors force the neighboring open continuation to differ.

  2. 02

    Count a nearly finished row

Each color must occupy half of a complete row or column.

  3. 03

    Compare complete lines

Two rows or two columns cannot end up identical.

How to play
Use the original host’s explanation before starting a larger board.

A pair restricts its neighbors

If two adjacent tiles in a row are red, another red immediately before or after them would make a forbidden triple. The same reasoning works vertically. A red, empty, red pattern also forces the middle tile to the other color. Work through one row and its intersecting column whenever you place a tile.

Counting becomes useful near the end of a line

Every finished row and column contains equal numbers of the two colors. On a four-cell line, two tiles of one color fill that color’s allowance. The remaining cells must use the other color. Count the entire line, because a locally legal tile can still exceed the allowed total.

Compare lines after the obvious deductions

Two completed rows may not match, and the same restriction applies to columns. Use a nearly finished line and a completed one to test whether a choice would produce a duplicate. Check the no-triples rule and the color count again after making that deduction; all three constraints must hold together.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before the next click.

Is guessing required by the rules?

The objective is to satisfy the constraints. Begin with forced placements from pairs, counts and duplicate lines before trying a guess.

Are rows allowed to repeat?

No. Completed rows must differ, as must completed columns.
