MATCHING NOTEBOOK / DAY & NIGHT

Gridland: follow the match beyond the tiles.

A swap clears a pattern, but the surrounding game decides what that pattern does. Learn the result of a match before chasing a larger chain.

Gridland: follow the match beyond the tiles.
Actual opening interface of Gridland, captured October 26, 2026. It records the entry screen, not a completed session.

KEEP IN MIND

  • Choose an empty slot for a fresh campaign.
  • Read the result outside the cleared cells.
  • Reconsider your priorities at a phase change.
  • Keep an export separately from local storage.

Choose a slot deliberately

The opening screen shows three slots with New Game and import controls. Choose an empty one when beginning. When returning, read the slot information before replacing anything. A slot is a campaign record on Gridland’s host, while this guide’s Saved feature only remembers a link to the profile. Keeping the two separate avoids an easy backup mistake.

Watch one ordinary swap

Start by noticing the affected cells and the response outside the board. Resource totals and the current phase give the match its purpose. As a learning exercise, predict what a small match will change, perform it and compare the result. This gives you a useful reference when a chain resolves several effects close together.

Reassess when the phase changes

Gridland moves through gathering, construction and survival. Read the changed indicators when a new phase arrives rather than continuing the same gesture at the same pace. A tile’s role in the current situation matters more than its color alone. This is a spoiler-light way to learn the shift, without prescribing a route through later discoveries.

Give the menu its own attention

The source includes resource, night, combat and progress records alongside import/export. Use a quiet moment to inspect the menu and learn where that information lives. A single statistic, such as a chain length, is not necessarily the objective currently holding you back. Read the game state around it before deciding what to improve.

Keep an export outside the browser

Gridland’s source stores slot data in local storage and encodes it for export. Copy a code through the game’s own interface and keep it separately before clearing site data. Restoring into another slot or browser is a separate check; the existence of an export function is not evidence that a particular backup has been restored successfully.
