Use a clear landing surface
The rectangular artwork removes much of the decoration found in larger platform games. Look at the next platform’s usable top edge and attempt a small landing first. Learning a jump on open ground provides a reference before the same input has to work next to a moving hazard.
Approach a monster from above
The creator’s page asks players to collect gold and jump on monsters. That gives the same jump key more than one purpose. Watch the target’s position while descending; reaching its horizontal location is different from landing on top of it. No complete-map route or perfect score is asserted here.
A small example can still teach a full interaction
The README describes a minimal game built from rectangles and links a follow-up about monsters and treasure. Its value is the visible relationship between movement, platforms and collision. The source and technical article provide a useful second view after you have tried the original game.
