ARCADE / BROWSER ADAPTATION

T-Rex Runner.

An extracted version of Chromium’s dinosaur runner, published as a browser page. Space or Up jumps, Down ducks, and the source includes touch input. This hosted copy is separate from the game built into a browser’s offline error screen.

KEEP THIS HANDY

Controls at a glance.

Space / Up
Begin and jump according to the runner’s state.
Down
Duck; the source also uses it for a faster descent during a jump.
Enter
Restart after a crash when the game accepts restart.
Touch the game
Touch input is handled by the extracted implementation.

Watch the ground ahead of the dinosaur

As a practice method, look at the approaching obstacle and the distance that remains, rather than staring only at the character. Repeating a similar jump from a similar distance gives you a reference. The exact input timing changes as the runner progresses, so a single fixed rhythm is not a universal solution.

A longer key hold changes the decision

The source handles jump key-down and key-up separately. Start by learning how a brief press differs from a longer hold, then pay attention to where the dinosaur lands. Down also has an airborne speed-drop behavior in this extraction. Test one action at a time so you can see which part of the motion it changes.

The offline origin is not an offline guarantee

The repository describes extracting the runner from Chromium. Its GitHub Pages host still has to deliver the page and assets to your browser. A game that originated on an offline error page is not evidence that this external copy will reopen without a connection. Use the exact linked build when comparing behavior or reporting a bug.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before the next click.

Is this a console port?

It is a browser adaptation of Chromium’s runner. Its original context was already a browser.

Does Down only duck?

The reviewed source also uses Down for a speed drop while airborne. See the current build’s response before relying on it.
