ENGINES, ADAPTATIONS & RECREATIONS
Find the projects that adapt an existing game or rebuild its engine. Start with a working interface you can learn, then check the lineage and data requirements behind it.

A PLACE TO BEGIN / PrinceJS
PrinceJS has unusually clear keyboard and mobile documentation, making it a useful first look at how classic inputs reach the browser.
Meet PrinceJS ↗BananaBread compiles a native engine through Emscripten. Freeciv-web puts a browser interface around a strategy system. PrinceJS and OpenLara reimplement older games or engines. Their labels explain different technical paths; they do not guarantee the same features as a current desktop release.
For OpenTTD, inspect the port’s save controls before building a large company. For PrinceJS, keep the state URL. For a 3D demonstration such as BananaBread, wait for the selected level and check the game’s input help.
An engine licence and the original game data are separate. OpenLara’s BSD code does not relicense Tomb Raider’s assets. This collection links the specific project and its host so that you can inspect the actual build and notices.

| OpenTTD ↗Browser port | Planning routes, building networks and learning a detailed simulation. | Ongoing simulation | Check file export in this particular port before a long game. |
| Freeciv-web ↗Browser adaptation | City building, research and a campaign you can settle into. | Turn-based campaign | Depends on the selected server and account. |
| Digger ↗Browser recreation | A keyboard arcade game with compact, tile-like routes. | Real-time arcade | No campaign save or export is documented in the project README. |
