MATERIALS, CODE & PRODUCTION

Change one thing. See what follows.

Paint a small simulation, repair a production line or edit a constrained program. These games reward a question you can test and a result you can inspect.

A PLACE TO BEGIN / Sandspiel

Start with one good session.

A compact scene and a single selected material give you a manageable first experiment. Add a second condition only after you understand the first.

Meet Sandspiel ↗

A visual experiment or a programming task?

Sandspiel lets you manipulate materials directly. Untrusted presents a code puzzle inside a level. Bitburner builds an ongoing automation system with its own in-game API. Decide whether you want to paint, reason about a small program or maintain scripts over a longer campaign. No prior coding is needed to explore Sandspiel’s palette.

Follow one result all the way through

In shapez, trace an item from extractor to hub. In Untrusted, connect one permitted edit to the resulting level behavior. In Particle Clicker, watch how detector data serves the next research requirement. A clear observation makes the second change easier to interpret.

Keep observations separate from promises

A simulation scene is not a real-world chemistry experiment. A tutorial script is not a guarantee of a profitable Bitburner campaign. The linked profiles identify each project, its inputs and the save behavior we can support with sources; the companion notebooks provide exercises you can try yourself.

Sandspiel ↗Web-nativeDrawing small experiments and watching materials interact.Open-ended material simulationThe project supports sharing creations. A local autosave or offline guarantee is not established here; keep work through the host’s actual available controls.
shapez ↗Web-nativeA production puzzle for people who enjoy tracing a working system.Running factory simulationThe menu exposes save/import functions, but demo restrictions apply. Verify the active build’s options before relying on transfer.
Untrusted ↗Web-nativeReading and changing small pieces of JavaScript to solve a visible puzzle.Code-editing puzzles; level behavior variesThe source records level progress and editor state locally. Keep the same host and browser profile; no cloud sync is promised.
Bitburner ↗Web-nativeA longer desktop session with reading, JavaScript and resource planning.Incremental programmingBrowser saves use IndexedDB. Options provides export/import for moving or backing up a game; keep a separate export.
Particle Clicker ↗Web-nativeA pointer-driven incremental game with short historical research notes.Incremental managementUses localStorage, with a Save now control. Without storage, the source warns that a refresh loses progress.
