DEDUCTIONS, PUSHES & MERGES

Inspect the board before you commit.

Choose a board that gives you room to think. Compare Sokoban’s pushing routes, 2048’s whole-board slides and two different red-and-blue logic systems.

A PLACE TO BEGIN / Sokoban

Start with one good session.

Planning the square behind a box introduces a useful distinction between moving an object and preserving access for the player. Start with a small selected level.

Meet Sokoban ↗

Choose the kind of uncertainty

Sokoban shows the layout and asks you to preserve routes. 2048 introduces a random new tile after a changing move. BreakLock conceals a pattern and gives feedback on a guess. The Q42 boards ask for deductions from visible constraints. Pick the reasoning task you want, rather than treating all small grids as the same puzzle.

Read the scope of each move

One 2048 input shifts the entire board. A Sokoban step can push one box into a position you cannot reverse through ordinary walking. In 0h n0, a red blocker changes what a blue cell can see. Before committing, name what else the action will affect beyond the cell under your attention.

A quiet pace does not guarantee undo

Do not assume that an untimed board offers a rewind or transferable save. The original 2048 player has no ordinary undo control; the Sokoban project documents automatic progress saving. Read the active version’s controls and preserve the same host and browser when returning.
